Commander's Message: Comrades,
Brothers and Sisters, As we head into Wildwood and the VFW State Convention I want to thank all the members for
the Post, Ladies Auxiliary and Men's Auxiliary for making this a successful year. A lot has been accomplished because of your
support. The year began tenuously with issues with our finances but changes were made and I'm proud to say that the
Post continues to thrive. We were able to clean out a lot of space giving us more storage for things we need. Both our
Ladies and Men's Auxiliaries hosted several successful events. The Ladies held their Spaghetti Dinners and and a well attended
Sweethearts Dance. The Men followed suit with an outstanding fundraiser for the families of local veterans with their All-American
Winter Picnic and their annual Halloween Dance. Hopefully the Winter Picnic will become an annual event as it was highly
received by all who attended. Perhaps the one thing I'm most proud of is getting the Post back its sign. As some of
you know the last time I was Commander the old sign had to be taken down as it gave into the ravages of the weather it endured
while identifying the Post to the community. With the help of our members and the Ladies and Men's Auxiliary we were able
to have a new one made. It is a thing of beauty that hopefully will last at least as long as the previous sign. We dedicated
the sign in memory of Chet Witkowski since he was the one who pushed so hard to get a new one and unfortunately
passed away before we could get it. In closing, if you can, stop by the Post to say hi to the old members and
welcome the new. Good Luck to Chris Bober as he returns as Commander again. Respectfully Joe Nelson Commander,
2009-2010 THE BEST POST ON THE EAST COAST
