Commander's Message:
Comrades, Brothers and Sisters,
It's been a while since I've written so I thought I'd take the time to let you know what's been happening at the Post. The good news is that we remain open. As I previously said things were very tight, financially, the first few months of this year but things seem to be looking up. More people have been coming to the canteen and we've looked to cut costs where needed. This formula seems to be working and we're looking at a bit of an upswing. Hopefully things will continue to move in that direction.
Beyond trying to build revenue, the Post and it's members continue to work hard supporting veterans and the community. In October we went to the Menlo Park Verteran's home for a Bingo Party which the veterans enjoyed. In November we had a Comedy Night that unfortunately was not well supported. Though it ran in the black it was nothing like our previous comedy nights. The next one will be a combined Dinner and Comedy show for St Patrick's Day. For those members traveling to Wildwood, make sure you buy a ticket because this is our only fundraiser for the Convention. In December, as tradition, we again hosted some residents of Menlo Park Veteran's Home for a Christmas dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffinging. We had about 19 veterans attend. They were visited by Santa Claus who got pictures with all of them. Please look at the meetings and events page for other upcoming events. I will also try and adevertise them on the home page.
In closing, if you can, please stop by the Post to say hi to the old members and welcome the new.
Respectfully
Joe Nelson
